The Tsum Valley trek typically takes 16 days. Your trip begins in Kathmandu. To start, you'll drive for about eight hours to Macha Khola, a charming village that marks the start of your journey.
The first part of the trek takes you through beautiful countryside and traditional villages. You'll follow the Burhi Gandaki River. As you continue, the scenery changes as you go up and down many ridges, and each turn shows off the area's stunning natural beauty.
Following this, you'll trek to Philim and enter the Lower Tsum Valley at Lokpa. This sets the stage for a seven-day exploration. From Lokpa, you'll travel to Chumling and subsequently into the upper parts of Tsum Valley. Here, you'll find forests of pine and rhododendron, along with lovely Tibetan-style villages.

Tsum Valley day by day itinerary:
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu.
Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival, we'll meet you at the International Airport and then take you directly to your hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu Preparations.
Today, therefore, get ready for your upcoming trek. You'll check your gear, do any last-minute shopping, and subsequently have a crucial briefing with your experienced guide.
Day 03: Drive to Macha Khola.
To begin your journey, enjoy an 8-hour private drive from the bustling streets of Kathmandu. Ultimately, this journey will take you to the peaceful starting point at Macha Khola (930m).
Day 04: Trek to Jagat.
Consequently, today marks the official start of your Tsum Valley trek. You'll head to Jagat (1340m), a 7-hour journey that immediately plunges you into Nepal's beautiful landscapes.
Day 05: Hike to Lokpa.
Moving forward from Jagat, the trail continues to Lokpa (2240m). During this 7-hour trek, you will progressively reveal the unique terrain of the Tsum Valley.
Day 06: Trek to Chumling.
After Lokpa, today's trek is 5 hours to Chumling (2385m). Here, you will distinctly notice the strong influence of traditional Tibetan culture as you settle in.
Day 07: Ascend to Chokang Paro.
Next, you'll begin your ascent to Chokang Paro (3031m) over 6 hours. Crucially, this climb not only helps you acclimatize but also provides amazing mountain views.
Day 08: Continue to Chule Nile.
From Chokang Paro, you'll then trek 7 hours to Chule Nile (3347m). Indeed, from this higher vantage point, you'll see expansive valley views, adorned with prayer flags and mani walls.
Day 09: Reach Mu Gompa.
